New Hair!

In an effort to step away from my comfort zone which was incredibly uncomfortable "last year" I decided to get my hair cut. I had noticed while visiting my mom in Florida during Christmas that my hair had a ridiculous amount of split ends. I had already scheduled an appointment with my neighbor who cuts hair at Salon 209, Stephanie and really as much as I had cut was her idea... but I think it is perfect! I had somewhere near 5-6 inches cut off which.. for me... is a ...lot.

In any sense.. I feel ... new and different... and the style fits me and my personality. My moms claim .. "it softens my forehead". :)

It's a new dawn....

...a new day
a new life for me....
and I"M FEELING GOOD!

So as I re-settle into my little blogging world once again, with renewed energy I sit down, Diet Coke in hand ready to write.

I quickly escaped from the threshold of the year 2010 with more of a sense of renewal than I ever have before at the change of a year. Now I know people can make changes and set goal points for these changes at any time. Mine however, was January 1, 2011 (1-1-11). Perhaps it was my strange but wonderful affliction with numbers and how they relate in my life or finally discovering a great time for "Day 1" to actually be ... Day 1. Whatever the case may be, 2010 ended with loads of regrets on my own behalf and 2011 started out with a bang.

I spent New Years Eve with my boyfriend Maurice and his friend Mark, as well as Mark's date for the night and a new friend for me... Clara. We spent forever trying to decide where we would celebrate the new year and it took me 124872395 outfit changes to figure out what suited me best for the nights celebrations, but after all of this chaos we found a hole-in-the-wall bar off of Greenbrier Street that Maurice and I had previously been to..ONCE and found it to be just as exciting as a major party downtown. The stereotypical redneck was there with the stereotypical female with full 80's hair and camoflauge something or rather. There was horrible sung karaoke (though noteably recognized as "excellent" singing since mostly everyone was getting their drink on), free party favors, loud music, dancing, the sharing/buying of drinks, snacks that seemed to have no end .. and of course complete strangers who ended up being someones best friend by the end of the night. I of course was the designated driver. That's right... for the first time since being allowed legally to drink (particularly in public), I wasn't. I place no blame on my reasons, other than wanting to wake up in the new year without a hangover and to just enjoy the evening sober. I was amused 99% of the time and though I couldn't get a bit of nerve to dance in front of everyone, it was still nice to see everyone else enjoying themselves. Mark and Maurice high-fived nearly every 5 seconds about something miraculous that they had discovered in their friendship and Clara entertained me and though she was drinking...a lot... she still maintained a sober-coolness. It was nice to have her there and I was excited that she and I had so much in common. As midnight came, I was asked to pick a ticket out of a bucket - (everyone had paid money to get tickets for a chance to win half of whatever was earned) and then they announced the number. I picked my own ticket (and won $30!!). Of course the closer it got to 12 everyone got more excited - it was so loud I could barely hear thoughts! I screamed just as much as the couple behind me and I got my kiss as the ball dropped and the clock struck 12. (Mark and Clara followed suit.) We stayed at the bar for another hour and a half as some random drunk guy (seperate from the aforementioned drunk guy) asked us to "watch" his pitcher of beer, which had been the fourth I remember seeing him with to himself.. though he had no intention of coming back to his beer...he was inebriated nearly as far as anyone could be. Clara and Maurice jumped on the opportunity to finish this guys pitcher of beer with a straw no less... hilarity ensued. Clara continued to maintain sober-coolness, Maurice was just funny. The night ended at the bar shortly thereafter and we retreated back to my house. Rockband was played with eventually I just got too tired to stay up.
The next morning Maurice and I went to breakfast at IHOP taking LM with us *posts later* and brought Mark breakfast afterwards. The house got straightened up in the afternoon and Tristan who was at his grandmas house returned around 5:30p. Overall the NYE/NYD celebrations were successful and I am quite excited to see how it all pans out.

Out for now. xo
